Milw. King pulls out win at MLK Classic in Chicago

CHICAGOMilwaukee King beat Champaign Central 52-42 in an opening round game Sunday at the Martin Luther King Dream Classic at Chicago Whitney Young High School. 

Jasmyne Reynolds led the Generals with 18 points, Alexis Eckles chipped in 14 and Avyanna Young finished with 12 points.

“We played excellent for stretches and poor for stretches, it was a quality win, but we need to work on holding our focus and intensity on defense,” said head coach Craig Machut.

Milwaukee King takes on Minneapolis North today at 9 a.m.  

Sixty-six boys and girls basketball teams competed in the 2010 classic, including nine teams from Wisconsin.

Results from Milwaukee area boys teams at the MLK Classic in Chicago…

Milwaukee South Division lost to Robeson of Chicago 48-45. Derrick Cook and Jermaine Brisco each scored 13 points for the Cardinals.

Milwaukee Riverside beat Crane of Chicago 72-64. Trinson White led Riverside with 18 points.

Milwaukee Marshall beat DuSable of Chicago 65-46. Aristede Bratchett led all scorers with 19 points. Deshae Johnson finished with 16 points in the win for the Eagles.
