MILWAUKEE - Despite Milwaukee Vincent’s girls basketball teams’ perfect season, the Lady Generals are ready to take on the Vikings.
The Rufus King girls basketball team (6-0, 10-2) plays the No. 1 state ranked Vikings (6-0,11-0) on Friday, January 29.
Even though the odds may look against the Lady Generals, it’s evident they are prepared to fight for a win.
“We can do anything if we try…,” sophomore center Avyanna Young said.
Young averages 12 to 16 points during a game, and has taken control of her center position.
Another big scorer for Milw. King is senior forward Teresa Buchanan. She believed that applying their offensive plays and executing their defense would help the Generals win.
The girls noted that hard work and dedication was needed to contain the Vikings from passing the ball to their 6-foot-6 center Nicole Griffin.
As long as the Lady Generals stay positive throughout the game no matter what the score.
Hopefully the girls have worked out their family issues; facing No. 1 ranked team in state could be very intimidating but Young has faith that they could pull off another win.
What also goes along with the hard work and dedication is the team's confidence.
Young is certain that the girls will give the Vincent Vikings something to fight for Friday night.
“We don’t have to beat them, they will have to beat us,” Young said.
Notes: The King Generals will have their next home conference game against Milwaukee Hamilton High school Tuesday, Feb. 2 and their next away game is Friday, Feb. 5 against Milwaukee Bradley Tech.
