MILWAUKEE
- Milwaukee King defeated Milwaukee Bay View 65-53 at Bay View High School Wednesday.

King (6-1, 10-4) showed their strength early, with Silas Mills winning the tip-off and setting the pace of the game.

Milwaukee Bay View (3-4, 6-9) managed to keep a hold on the game within the first half, but the Generals outscored the Redcats 18-4 in the third quarter and ran away with the victory.

Senior Robert Littleton led the Redcats with 20 points despite having four personal fouls for most of the second half.

Bay View junior Jametrius Williams added 10 points.  Littleton, Williams and senior Demetrius Turner each made one 3-point basket.

Milwaukee Bay View coach Tyler Podoll thought the Redcats could have been quicker on their feet; he felt they played sluggishly.

“We’re very proud of our rebounding, but today we let King push us around,” Podoll said.

Podoll felt his team could have played better, but remained optimistic about the rest of the season as the Redcats concentrate on preparing for City Conference playoffs.

“We need to focus on getting a good seat and a home game for the tournament,” Podoll said.

Milwaukee King coach James Gosz seemed happy with the boys’ performance.

“Anytime we come out of a City Conference game with a win, I’m satisfied,” Gosz said.

Despite winning by 12 points, the Generals missed over half their free throws (14-30); it’s something Gosz hoped the team would improve on in the future.

“They played well, but we need to be able to close out games and make free throws,” Gosz said.

Mills led Milwaukee King with 13 points, followed by senior Courtlin Scott-Johnson who played solid defense and chipped in 11 points.

Sophomore Nic Stokes made three 3-point baskets finishing with nine points. Anthony Hatfield kicked in a pair of 3-pointers and wrapped up the game with eight points.

Next up Milwaukee King hosts Milwaukee Vincent Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m.  The Redcats play Milwaukee Riverside on Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Bay View.
