OMRO – Omro High School’s very own dance team recently was fully prepared for regional competition held January 30 at Oshkosh North High School.
“This year has been really difficult compared to last year,” said Meghan Rice, a junior member of the dance team. “We’ve had to change a lot of our formations in our routines and we’ve been critiquing a lot more.”
At the regional’s competition, the girls performed two of their very own routines that fall under the categories of pom and kick choreographed by their dance coach Beth Krueger.
Overall the team placed fourth in pom, which was just enough to make it to state.
“We really wanted to make it to state with both routines but our number one priority at this point is was to make it to state for pom and we did just that,” said Whitney Berndt, a freshman member of the Omro dance team.
The girls have been practicing a lot and have performed at three other competitions. The most recent competition prior to regional competition was the Kaukauna Classic. The team brought home a first place trophy.
